It was a week of excellent sailing conditions for the Brazilian Sailing Team. The squad finished the World Sailing Test Event in Fortaleza with four medals overall, including gold for Gustavo Kiessling in the ILCA 7 class. He was followed by Antonio Rosa and Pedro Madureira, completing an all-Brazilian podium in the class. In Formula Kite, Bruno Lobo secured the bronze medal in a highly competitive field that included world and Olympic medalists.
In the ILCA 7 class, Gustavo Kiessling led the fleet during the qualifying series and also won both races of the final series, confirming an outstanding week in the capital of Ceará. “It’s very special to win at home. We had sailors from several countries honoring the event. We are already looking ahead to next year’s World Championships here in Fortaleza. Expectations couldn’t be better,” said Gustavo shortly after securing the title while still on the water.
In Formula Kite, which featured many of the world’s top athletes throughout the week, Bruno Lobo finished first overall in the qualifying series and advanced directly to the Grand Final. After intense quarterfinal and semifinal battles — which included Brazilian sailor Lucas Fonseca — the two final races were won by Maximilian Maeder of Singapore, who claimed the gold medal. Maeder won bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Switzerland’s Gian Andrea Stragiotti finished second, followed by Brazil’s Bruno Lobo in third place at the Test Event.
“This was a great opportunity for us to prepare for 2026 and for the 2027 World Championships, where we aim to qualify Brazil for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games,” said Juan Sienra, CBVela Sports Manager.
